Cool symbols, cute symbols and aesthetic symbols
Symbols are characters just like letters, so they paste anywhere. Hearts (♥ ♡ ❤) and stars (★ ✦ ⋆) are the most used; flowers (✿ ❀) and small sparkles (˚ ｡ ⋆) give an aesthetic look; brackets like 【 】 and 『 』 and the gamer symbols 亗 ꧁ ꧂ frame names.

Symbols vs. emoji
Emoji like 💖 are drawn in colour by your phone. Text symbols like ♥ are drawn by the font, in the same colour as the text around them, which keeps a clean look. Some symbols (❤ ☀ ✈) can show either way; the phone decides.
